Identify the Conway purchase program before using a housing application
Conway's Community Development office and USDA Rural Development handle different housing needs and application routes. Compare mortgage providers above, then check the program and property address with the responsible office. The Arkansas hub explains separate ADFA mortgage and assistance choices.
Separate a purchase inquiry from the city's rehabilitation work
Conway's Community Development Department administers CDBG and identifies housing rehabilitation among its activities. Its current page links action plans and funding materials. Those resources describe city housing work; they should not be read as an application for a mortgage or an award of down payment funds. Ask staff to identify any current purchase-assistance route before relying on an older homebuyer document or a rehabilitation application.
Call 501-450-6100, extension 3703, with the proposed address and explain that you are researching a purchase. Ask who reviews a buyer file, which property boundary applies, whether education is required and how the lender coordinates the request. If staff identifies assistance, obtain its current application, funding information and written repayment or occupancy conditions. A plan's housing allocation does not reserve funds for your closing.
Check the exact rural address and the direct-loan contact
For buyers exploring a property outside the urban area, USDA's Section 502 Direct program requires an eligible rural address and a separate borrower review. Its page links an address-based eligibility map and a preliminary self-assessment; only a complete application gives USDA the verified information for an official decision. Do not assume that a Conway mailing address, a county name or a rural-looking setting establishes property eligibility.
The program's Arkansas contact section lists Faulkner County among the counties served through 479-968-3497, extension 4. Give staff the actual purchase county and address and ask about the direct-loan application, documents and processing time. This is a USDA application route, distinct from an ADFA participating lender's file. USDA also says payment subsidy can become repayable when ownership transfers or the borrower leaves the home; request an explanation of that obligation before treating it as unconditional assistance.
